Federal contracts for Mansfield and Lexington companies, Ohio jobs

Gorman-Rupp of Mansfield recently won a federal contract award for $857,549 from the Defense Logistics Agency, Warren, Michigan. The contract is for a hydraulic pump unit.

Silverback Safety & Training Solutions in Lexington won a federal contract award valued at up to $475,000 from the General Services Administration Federal Acquisition Service, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for participation in a multiple award schedule for professional and management development training.

COLUMBUS — Ohio now has the most filled jobs in the history of the state — 5,639,200, according to data released from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

Ohio's unemployment rate was 3.3% in July 2023, down from 3.4% in June 2023. Ohio’s nonagricultural wage and salary employment increased 12,100 over the month, from a revised 5,627,100 in June to 5,639,200 in July. This marks the lowest unemployment rate since 1976 when the series for reporting unemployment started. This is also the highest payroll employment reported since the series started in 1990.

COLUMBUS — Ohio’s new business filings rose 12% year over year, with 14,500 new businesses created in July. Ohio continues to remain ahead of the previous year's pace and on track to exceed 2022's near-record of 178,636 business filings.

MOUNT VERNON — Knox Community Hospital will host a Career Fair from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 28 in the KCH cafeteria, 1330 Coshocton Ave. in Mount Vernon.

A wide variety of departments will be represented, including; nursing, administrative, professional, technicians, ancillary, and support services. There will also be higher education institutions on-site to assist the attendees with their educational path based on their career interests.
